Hiking tips

For many years, Lake Achensee, surrounded by the two mountain ranges Rofan and Karwendel, has been known as an excellent hiking area with rustic alpine pastures and paths offering amazing views of the deep blue "Tyrolean Sea" and the imposing world of peaks. More than 500 kilometres of marked and maintained hiking trails of all levels of difficulty offer the best conditions for your very own pleasure at the summit as well as unique experiences of nature. That is because the Rofan Mountains to the east of Lake Achensee combine both rugged and gentle terrain at the same time. The Karwendel National Park in the west, in contrast, is the largest protected area in the northern Alps and home to a diverse flora and fauna - more golden eagles live here than anywhere else in the Alps.  
The AchenseeCard allows guests to take part in free guided hikes in Rofan and Karwendel every day from April 29 to November 01 Monday through Friday.
