CULTURAL HERITAGE

Those interested in culture will get their money's worth in the region. The most popular attractions in Schwaz are Freundsberg Castle, the Schwaz silver mine and the 360° cinema "Your Dome". The old town of Schwaz also invites you to take a leisurely stroll and linger. The fascinating Tratzberg Castle is also great fun for children to visit, while the historic trains of the Achensee steam cog railroad and the Zillertalbahn make the hearts of railroad enthusiasts beat faster. The famous "Haus steht Kopf" and DinoLand are located in the immediate vicinity of the Pill/Vomperbach platform and are therefore ideal for train travelers. And finally, the world-famous Swarovski Crystal Worlds, which are just a short drive away from the Silver Region.

CULTURAL HERITAGE

The historical past of the region runs like a "silver thread" through the entire course of the Tyrolean Silver Trail. In each of the twelve communities, you will find a wealth of information and stories interwoven with the history at our information stations. There are also numerous sights to discover in the municipalities that are closely linked to silver mining.

New digitization project 2024:

For an interactive exploration of the region, it is now possible to discover the fascinating history of the Karwendel Silver Region and its individual communities using the "Locandy" app, a kind of audio guide.
As a special offer, there is a participatory version for children, in which they help our Karwendolin and his friends to save the silver sparrows that have flown away from the dark knight and bring them back to their nest.

The Silver Trail includes:

• A circular hike through all 12 municipalities of the Silver Region
• 5 daily stages with easy to moderately difficult routes
• Overnight accommodation along the entire long-distance hiking trail

Kellerjochbahn cable car

Schwaz’s local mountain, the Kellerjoch, towers high above the Inn Valley and promises the perfect mix of enjoyment and nature. Take the Kellerjochbahn cable car to the Hecherhaus and enjoy amazing views all the way to Innsbruck before exploring the Kellerjoch hiking area.
